For those of you who are unaware of Katrina's story, please feel free to read below:

In August 2011, Katherine Kolendorski, currently 27 years old, was diagnosed with cervical cancer. This was devastating and shocking for the entire family, as they were just about to start growing their family and try to have their second child. We never thought this could hit so close to home to someone so healthy and young. However, after long hours of driving to North Philadelphia weekly for chemotherapy and radiation, and surgery on her ovaries, cervix and thyroid, Katherine was cleared from this horrifying illness. She is now in remission but will never be able to have her own child to fulfill their daughter’s dream of having a sibling.

In October 2012, Katherine took their 4 year old daughter, Katrina, to get a CAT scan of what the doctor thought was just a hernia. After long anticipated hours to acquire the results that evening, the doctor called Katherine and told her that Katrina had tumors on her kidneys and they needed to take her to CHOP right away. So without hesitation, Katherine and her husband packed up some belongings and headed straight to Philadelphia for what was going to be a long weekend. The doctors at CHOP attended to Katrina right away with multiple testing, ultrasounds, etc. The final results were that Katrina was diagnosed with Stage V Wilms Tumors. There were six tumors on her right kidney and two on her left and she would need to undergo chemotherapy, possibly radiation, and have surgery completed over the next 6 weeks. This was so heartbreaking for the family to hear, as Katrina is always full of energy and keeps us laughing every moment she is in the room. The Kolendorskis are going through a very difficult time dealing with an ailing child and had to inform her that she was going to lose all of her hair.  It was devastating to hear her response:  "But I'm a princess and now I will be ugly!"
